Friday the 13th
By Mandar
Friday the 13th was always known as an unlucky day. People who are afraid the Friday 13th suffer paraskavedekatriaphobia. 21 million American suffer this. Some people don’t go to restaurants, while others don’t go to work, and some just stay in bed so they don’t have to face the day! It has been estimated that $800 or $900 million dollars is lost in this day because they don’t go to work.
People who suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia most likely consider themselves unlucky. But did you wonder how Friday the 13th got unlucky? Well there are many reasons to this. In numerology 12 is considered completeness such as, 12 months equal a year however 13 is considered irregular. Another reason there have also been strange events on the Friday 13th. That also makes people afraid the Friday the 13th. 13 and Friday was considered unlucky making Friday the 13th unlucky. Why is 13 unlucky? Here is why 13 is considered unlucky. The fear of 13th goes back to ancient history about 12 gods having a dinner party at Valhalla, their heaven. In walked an uninvited 13th guest, the mischievous Loki. Loki arranged Hoder, the blind god of darkness to shot Blader the beautiful, the god of joy and gladness with a mistletoe-tipped arrow. Blader died and the earth got dark. It is a bad, unlucky day. From that day on 13 was considered unlucky.
Do you believe in Friday the 13th?

Friday the thirteenth is not so bad. I mean I received GOOD luck. All you have to think is good luck and not think about bad luck. I had good luck for the whole day! That's EPIC!!!
Nothing really happened to me last friday except I got sick missed an important day of school, wasn't able to go to my Tae Kwon Doe blue belt test, and then get a fever on top of coughing. Most of the time I was sitting in bed last friday but for a totally different reason than other people. I know that there was a movie named Friday the 13th which is really old and super freaky that only adults can watch. I don't beleive in friday the 13th and thought it was only a movie, but know I know from Mandar's blog it had to do with Gods.
SO-SO last year, I had very bad luck on Friday the 13th:(. We had like 5 tests in one day! and when I played basketball, I didn't make 99.999999% of my shots. Also I don't believe in it because this year NOTHING happened to me so yah.
PEACE OUT PEEPS!!

I don't really belive in friday the 13 because nothing bad has ever happened on the 13 to me.
I don't believe in Friday the 13th because first, nothing bad ever happens to me on Friday the 13th and secondly, why is it even called Friday the 13th? Why can't it be Thursday the 13th or Monday the 13th? I think that it's confusing of how people are scared of Friday the 13th because I think it is harmless.
I don't believe in Friday the 13th because I never had bad luck.Never.In fact,I don't believe in Santa Claus,Leprechauns, the Tooth Fairy, etc.I have never seen any of those creatures.Ever.I think they are myths, but I'll probably never know.
Not reallly.I mean on Friday the 13th nothing really changed. So it wasn't any worst but it wasn't any better than the 12th. This was because I still had to take that annoying test at my afterschool for the 5th day in a row! So more of less I don't excactly care about if it affects me or not.
Great Post Mandar!!!!=)
I don't belive in Friday the 13th. It's just another myth like the other random ones, step on a crack, break your mother's back. I don't know why people think Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. Any day can be unlucky. Why not Thursday the 12th or Saturday the 14th. For me, the Friday the 13th that just passed was RREALLY fun! I went to a birthday party and nothing bad at all happened. It was the BEST Friday the 13th I've ever had!!!
Hi Mandar.
I kinda believe in Friday the 13th but, now I don't because I had my B-Day party on that day and nothing unlucky happened to me or my friends. The only thing that I would consider unlucky was getting hit in the face with a foam ball :'(.
Good Post Mandar! :/ :] :)
I personally believe in Friday the 13th. I am not scared of it, but there are a lot of superstitions about Friday the 13th. Some things that people avoid as precautions are walking under a ladder, looking at a black cat, stepping on cracks, and looking at a broken mirror. I never really did any of these things, but I don't exactly want to try.
Nice Post Mandar!
I am a little scared of Friday the 13th, because the last time when it happened, I fell down badly. This is what happened: Aishwarya and I were walking to say hi to Ms. Malone, and Victor pushed me down on the concrete and ran to where he was going. Julie and Jamie then came running to me to help me while Aishwarya was bringing tissues. They all took me to the office and helped me back to the classroom. During P.E. Julie and Aishwarya stayed with me to make me feel better. I would be happy to pay them back somehow.

I don't believe in Friday the 13th. This month, there was Friday the 13th. I actually had an AWESOME Friday the 13th this month. I skipped all my classes on Friday to attend this awesome place that my friend invited me too. It was TOTALLY an awesome Friday the 13th. Since I didn't have to do all those classes and went to an awesome place, I think this month's Friday the 13th was pretty good.
I don't believe in Friday the 13th, but on that day, I like to "freak out" just to creep others out. :P Like, sometimes, I run up to people and say "DON'T STEP ON THAT CRACK!", or "DON'T CROSS THAT CAT!". ;) So if people actually believe in Friday the 13th, they will get even more creeped out!!! :P
I do not believe in Friday the 13th. I am not very superstitious and nothing ever happens to me that is bad on Friday the 13th
I don't belive in friday the 13th. When I even learned about it, I was a little scared at first. When the day actually came, it wasn't so bad. I realized there was nothing to be afraid about.
Nice post Mandar!!
I don't believe in Friday the 13 but I'm still kinda cautious cause lots of people do and when ya believe it, every body is kinda doing tricks.
This May 13,2011 was a really unlucky day for my family. No bad luck happened to me but bad luck happened to my father. In the MIDDLE of a freeway, his car basicaly stopped/broke down he managed to just barely made his car to Macy's parking lot where a triple A tow truck towed his car away to a garage.
Heyy Mandar! Actually, I don't believe in Friday the 13th. This year, there was no bad luck for me on Friday the 13th. I don't know why but I am glad that I didn't have bad luck!
Nice blog! :D
I don't believe in Friday the thirteenth and I don't get why people who do believe in it do. They are just hurting themselves because there is nothing wrong with it being Friday and the thirteenth of a month. They are just putting one more scary thing on their mind that is going to creep them out. Think happy thoughts not sad ones otherwise bad things will happen. I don't get why just because someone died they consider that day unlucky. Why don't they call Friday the fourteenth an unlucky day. That was the day that President Lincoln was assassinated.
Hi Mandarian nice post I kind of believe in the "13" but I do even believe in good luck and bad luck such as if you go to chess tournement and your about to win a trophy and you lose you would consider it unlucky if you have a bad day and you consider it unlucky because you had a bad day and you depend on god that might bad luck but then it becomes better. I do believe nice post King Madarian!
Well some people say that Friday the 13th was also known as Black Friday. In businesses, "black" means money gain and "red" means money loss, and it happened on Friday. So businesses call them Black Friday. I think Friday the 13th doesn't really mean Black Friday. Businesses say that Black Friday is very lucky and Friday the 13th is unlucky. Most people think "black" is bad, so they call Friday the 13th Black Friday since it is unlucky for many people. I think it really depends your fate or luck. Most of the time I don't get unlucky.
I do not belive in Friday the thirteenth. Nothing bad has happened bad to me yet o n that day. So when it's Friday the thirteenth I do not get scared.
No! It was lucky. My mom let me have whatever I wanted and I went to this place and received a soda and candy! It's awesome!!!! And then I was allowed to watch my favorite cartoon.
No! I don't believe in it because it never gave me any bad luck. It was actually a pretty good luck day for me!
I think that Friday the 13th was an unlucky, but I got good luck, like when I was playing ping pong at my afterschool and I beat the best player there.
I don't believe in Friday the 13th. After all, there is only 1 Friday the thirteenth this year, May 13th. For people who think Friday the 13th is unlucky, 2012 has 3 Friday the 13th.

I don't believe in Friday the Thirteenth. When I was younger, it used to be my lucky day. This year was also very lucky. One of Adam's enemies (a very bad one) got busted for doing something bad. I finished stuff very easily, unlike other days. Now I might suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia, but I don't think I do. Anyways, NICE POST MANDAR!!!
