Birthdays
By: Mahi
Well, my birthday was this Saturday (January 29, 2011)and I celebrated it by having a party with my friends and family. I invited eight people to my party in my house. First, the people came to my house to enjoy a little bit, then we went to the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The movie was scary, funny, and joyful at the same time. Then we came back to my house cut the cake then I opened the presents. I got two books, Banana Grams, four pencils, a pencil pouch, one silly band packet, one eraser, one lead packet, one pencil, two dresses, one jacket, five balloons, and one national geographic game. I loved all these presents. Then I gave the goodie bags to each person. My birthday was the awesome. Did you ever have a awesome birthday? Also, when is your birthday????:)

Hobbies and Talents- By Rakhi

Hobbies and Talents
BY RAKHI

What kind of hobbies or talents do you have? Do you like swimming or fishing or maybe just playing the piano? Well.... I like playing the piano, playing basketball, volleyball, and soccer, swimming, and many other things. I really like playing the Piano. I started last year and am on Level two. In March, I am going to take a test and next year I might take the test for level four or five. Something I like about playing the piano is that I can just do anything on it (well not scribble..of course.)I can learn to play songs or I can bang around on it if I am mad at my sister. I like playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball too.
I love volleyball. I have only played since I was eight but it's really fun. There are many things to it so if you don't know how to play a certain position, you can play a different position. You can block, serve, set and lots of other things. I started playing because my sister was playing it. When she had games, my dad and I would pass the ball to each other and I got motivated to play myself. My favorite position is server. I have a lot of fun and last year I played in a league where you played volleyball and had games.I used to play soccer a lot and I have played for six seasons. I also once played when I was four or five but that does not count. I really want to play this Spring and hopefully my mom will let me. I also go to a singing class where I learn Indian Classical Music. Do you have any talents or hobbies? Share them with us!

tempura.jpgHi everyone!  Think of all the yummy food you have eaten.  Makes your mouth water, right?  Well, I am going to tell you the food that I think are the most delicious to me.  First of all, I LOVE sushi!!!  Sushi is a Japanese dish.  I like varieties of sushi.  Some of the sushi that I like include California Roll, cooked eel skin wrapped around rice, and sushi with fish eggs in them.  Another type of food that I like is tempura.  If you don’t know what tempura is, I can explain.  Tempura is a Japanese dish that is made from fried fish shrimp mixed with dough.  There can be vegetable tempura as well.   You dip it in soy sauce and it makes you tempted to eat more.  One more thing I like most is the mint chocolate chip ice cream!!!  I can eat a whole pint of it.  Living in this part of the country, we are so fortunate to have so many wonderful food to choose from.  What are you favorite food?  Please share with us!

Collections-By Leanne

Collections!!! by Leanne Loo

Hello everyone!!!! Do you have a collection of anything or, have you ever started a collection of objects?
Well, I do!! I collect different types of stones or gems. Some of the stones I have are jaspar, rose quartz, tourmaline, quartz, smoke quartz, agate, a different type of agate, aquamarine, sapphire, ruby, pearl, some weird blue thingy, emerald, diamond, and many other varieties of stones. I like collecting rocks because I can widen my knowledge about them and well, I think they are one of the most interesting and beautiful things on Earth. Also, stones and gems are getting rare, so you might as well collect them now!!! You might think, how in the world do I get all these things??? Actually, I have a friend who owns a jewelry/stone shop and pass by her place everytime I go to Chinese class and, she gives me free stones for my collection. Sometimes, I buy the gems with my own money and my mom's combined.  Do you have any collections? If you do, where did you get the idea and why do you collect it? If you don't, do you want to start a collection? Why or why not???

Winter Vacation- By Aishwarya

Winter Vacation
By Aishwarya
This winter was very cold, wet, and rainy. It made me feel cozy in my home with my family and friends. I had couple of play dates with my cousin and few parties and get-togethers with my friends. Christmas day was filled with gifts and surprises. We also took some family pictures.

I had a long relaxing time and a good deal of entertainment. I enjoyed food at restaurants, watched lots of movies, and read a ton of books.
We went to California Academy of Sciences. There was a film of the northern lights in a blow up igloo. The scientific name for the northern lights is aurora borealis. They are often greenish-blue and sometimes red. It is caused by collision of charged particles directed by Earth's magnetic field. These sights are in the Polar Regions. In the planetarium, I watched a movie called LIFE. In the aquarium, I saw fish, manta rays, and jellyfish.

How did you spend Winter Vacation?
