A few weeks ago weeks ago, I went to the Chinese New Year Parade. I watched from Macy’s 3rd floor to avoid the rain. We were across the street from the TV cameras. During the parade, there were many fire crackers. Even though we were behind a window, we still could hear it pretty loud. According to the Chinese tradition, the loud fire crackers are used to scare away the bad luck. There were many dancing dragons to frighten the bad luck, too. The dragons are piloted by a few people holding a rod that is attached to the dragon. The people can make the dragon go up and down. The dragons are also supposed to be following a ball on a stick. 2011 is the Year of the Hare so there were some people that were hopping around in bunny costumes. I feel sorry for the bunnies since they have to walk (maybe hop) a few miles. In the parade, there were also some dancers holding fans.
I have also seen a Christmas parade several years ago. There weren’t many parade floats. I saw some people dressed up similarly like the Sugar Cubes, in boxes, but with wrapping paper on the boxes. I have also seen many Disneyland parades when I was young. There were many floats with Disney characters on them. Have you seen any parades, on TV or in person? What special occasion was the parade for? What is your favorite parade during the year.

Hi Joshua,
I have seen many parades on tv and some in Disneyland. They are really cool to watch. The special occasions were for me, Disneyland, for my cousins, and my helpful sisters. My favorite parade was when the parade was for me in India where I had my saree function day. That day was so fun and joyful. Everyone enjoyed the music, dancing, the talking of the people, and, also the amazing stuff they wear, such as jewelery, clothes. and lots of the cute, weird, and amazing props. Everyone loved that day especially my family. Great Post!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, since I play band, maybe in middle school or high school I will play in a parade. I never really been in a parade before but then on Chinese New Year, I saw many parades on T.V. On New Years there are parades too!
I usually rarely go to see parades. Oddly enough I have been in two parades and only seen one. The first parade I was in was this parade in Disneyland where they encourage you to join them that was about six years ago. The other own was when I was four and I was watching this Chinese New Year Parade and I accidentally wandered onto the parade path. So they thought I was in the parade and they let me join.
Great post Joshua!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been to a parade. They were dressed in red white and blue. Some held flags some played instruments. I saw many on T.V. too.
Actually I was in a parade. Well, when I was in Cub Scouts. My pack was leading the parade. The Girls Scouts epicely failed. It was so fun! NICE POST!
I have seen a few parades on tv and enjoy all of them. One parade that I particularly enjoy watching is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I enjoy watching the familiar and new characters that appear. I didn't get to watch last years, but am hoping to watch it this year. My favorite parade character doesn't usually show up on the Thanksgiving Day Parade. He is the one and only Santa Clause. One reason I like him is because I like to notice how the person who plays his role changes each and every day.
Nice post Joshua!
I have never been to a New Year's Parade before. At my chinese school I have seen the dragon dancing. We could buy food and play games. There was also a group of singers and a guess-and-win game. You get a paper and have to guess what the object is. The prize is a mechanical pencil and a plastic car. I had a Christmas Party at my piano teacher's house. We played games, had a potluck, and some people played with her Kinect.
I have watched a few parades on tv before. My personal favorite is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I love watching the familiar and new characters appear for the parade. I didn't get to see last years, but hope to see this years. My favorite parade character doesn't appear on the Thanksgiving Day Parade. He is the one and only Santa Claus. One thing I really enjoy about watching Santa Claus is noticing how the person who plays his role always changes from year to year.
Nice post Joshua!
I have seen many Disneyland parades before. They are SUPER cool! I once saw this night-light show (in the night of course);) there, and it was AMAZING!!! There were a bunch of people wearing these clothes with bright lights on them! And many were in bright costumes! There was also glowing parade balloons! It was so cool! I have also seen many Disneyland parades during the day. Those are really cool too.
P.S Who is Macy??? =P
Hey Joshua! :D I actually have seen a parade when I was a little kid! I don't remember the name of the parade! I have really bad memory! :P Anyways, parades sound so exciting! :D
Nice post Joshua! :D
When I was young, like around 6 years old, I went to a parade in Hollywood with all these Disney characters. There were many floats and little kids were also walking in the parade. It was cool but I got bored after a while. Also in Portal's band, we went to a Christmas parade in Los Gatos. It was kind of boring. All we did was walk around for 30 minutes playing the same song over and over again.(Jolly Old St. Nicolas) Before that, we had to wait for 2 hours! It was annoying!!!
Great post Joshua!
I have seen some parades, but I think that I forgot all of them. The only one I remember is when the fifth graders were in Ms. McPheeters class for math, she turned on the TV so we could watch a baseball team parade because they won the World Series. It was great. We saw the really famous people like Fear the Beard and some other people. I mean like I'm not that into baseball, but that parade was pretty good.
I like Chinese New Year parade. They are really loud, but really fun at the same time. You get to hear firecrackers, eat delicious chinese food, and you get red envelopes. I know that Chinese New Year ended, but I still remember some things that I did that time. I sipped a cup of tea and ate some moon cakes. They tasted AWESOME! I liked it very much! Parades are awesome
Yes, I saw a New Year Eve parade right in the middle of chinese school! It was annoying, but the best part is that we got "red pocket"! In each of them, there were 1 dollar! Oh well, it is at least worth it.
Good post, Joshua!
Hey Joshua my favorite parsade is the one they have at Disneyland I like it because it has all the people who are in disney and Ithink in 2007 they were showing there paintings which were fake so I liked it alot all in all in the parade which was in Florida.
Great Post Joshua! :P
I have seen lots of parades! I have seen two in Disneyland. I saw a mini parade with all the Pixar characters like, Toy Story characters and Monsters Inc. The second parade I saw at Disneyland was the Disney characters. For example, the princesses, princes, and of course mickey and minnie mouse. My favorite parade is the Los Gatos Christmas parade. My brother was playing the trumpet for the school band. I also saw bikers jumping over a van! It was wicked! :)
Nice post Joshua!!! I like the Main Street Electrical Parade in Disneyland because it is has a theme song named "Baroque Hoedown." The original version was created in 1967 by early pioneers Jean-Jacques Perrey and Gershon Kingsley. Originally, the parade's soundtrack had the same themes as the current recording, but was a different arrangement by Jim Christensen and Paul Beaver. In 1977, it was updated and arranged by electronic music artists Don Dorsey and Jack Wagner at Jack Wagner Studio, which was used until January 2009 in Disney's Electrical Parade.
I went to a parade before at a park. I saw some people waving flags and doing tricks with them and some playing band instruments. I saw many parades on T.V. I think if I continue to play band, I think I will be able to be on T.V. and be on a parade one day. All I can't do is play my instrument while walking in a strait line.
