My Trip to the East Coast
My trip to the east coast was a very fascinating and adventurous vacation with my family to Boston, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.
At first when I arrived at the airport, I was very nervous and didn’t want to go. Afterwards I was a little bit excited to go to the urban areas to see the difference between their place and ours.
We first arrived at Boston, Massachusetts. Almost every building was made of bricks. It was a very old city. We followed the freedom trail (a red line on sidewalks that lead you to places). We came upon the Boston Capital Building. Many old histories were posted there. What was so cool was that I was able to see the Boston Bruins real home stadium! We also went to other parts of Massachusetts and took a tour around Harvard University.
We took a bus to New York. The first thing we did was we came to the Scholastic art and writing building to see my brother’s (Tony’s) work that has won two gold medals; one for his video game, Evastro, and one for his writing. I’m also very proud of myself because I colored Evastro (the video game was created on paper) that helped my brother win the prize. So many photographies and portfolios won gold medals. They were so creative! On another day, we took a subway to Time Square. Wow, it was so crowded! If you went about a few meters away from your parents, you can get lost! Many commercials and news were on electronics that were posted on buildings. We bought “I ♥ NY” t-shirts. We came to other cool places like UK (United Kingdom). It’s so funny to see Tony bopping his head like a pigeon whenever one appears!
We took another bus to Pennsylvania. We checked out U-PENN (University of Pennsylvania). The liberty bell was also cool. I didn’t know it was so small!
Finally, we took another bus to Washington D.C. My it’s so hot there! It’s not regularly hot, it’s like you are in a heat stove! For dinner, we ate yummy noodles at noodle restaurant. It was so good! The next day, we checked out the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument (to climb on it tickets are free!), the White House, and much more cool places. All museums at Washington D.C. are free! My favorite one was this museum about mammals, humans, sea animals, reptiles, birds, etc. I went to the humans section and there was something really weird. It said that we are made of chickens, monkeys, other random animals, and even bananas! I was just being naughty when there was a machine that wanted to answer questions we came up. I typed: “Am I really a banana?” and “What’s today’s date?” and it said it would post it on it’s website! Of course, I know we are not made of those random things. It was time to visit the reflecting pool! It was so cool and Tony was playing with the ducks (does not sound anything mature like a teenager). The Capital Building was right behind the reflecting pool, though we weren’t allowed inside.
Wow! There is just so much to say about the trip, but I can’t take up all this space in the blog. I hope you can also take a vacation to the East Coast one day and figure how fun it is yourself!
Comment: Have you went to the East Coast? How was it? If not, would you like to visit it or do you know any information about it?
Thanks!

I have been to some of the places that you went to, and I bet you had a lot of fun in the east coast. You are really lucky to see the home stadium of the Boston Bruins! You are also very lucky to have a brother who won lots of gold medals, one for a video game, Evastro and one for a piece of writing and a couple more for his photos and portfolios! I know it was really crowded in Time Square. From your blog it sounds like your brother is really funny. The liberty bell is really cool too. It's also really cool how many monuments you saw! I didn't Know that the tickets to climb the Washington monument was free! The museum you went to sounds interesting! It sounded like you had a great time in the east coast!

I have never went to the East Coast, EVER!
Did U ever get to see the BOSTON CHEESE FACTORY!!! DID YOU??? It's AWESOME. There is one close to Westfield. Where is it, I don't know. By the way, what is Evastro? I cant find it. The Internet Is NOT WORKING WITH ME!!!
I have seen the urban places of New York. I think it was at some TV show on HGTV (Home & Garden TV) where they were selling a house or something? At Time Square did you get to meat the cat, the mouse, and the cricket? It's in a book but it's not true (trust me).
If you felt like being cooked like a little chicken at Washington then get a bottle and freeze it for a day. I think to make a otter pop thing you break the ice every about 1/5 of the way I think. At the Lincoln Memorial did Lincoln come out of the grave and eat YOUR BRAIN!?! When you came to the museums at Washington D.C. you should of wrote: Who is your master? Who am I? And a bunch of letters that they won't understand.
Annie-
That seems like a really interesting and exciting trip! It sounds strange to me that the museum said humans are made of those random things such as chickens and bananas. It is very weird. I have never been to the east coast, but I would be happy to visit one day.
I have never been to the East Coast but I would have loved to after I read all about the cool places you have been to. I don't know much about the East East because I have never been there but I would have loved to! You are so lucky to have been to many states this summer and I hope you had a GREAT time!!!!!
Your trip sounds great. I really wish I could visit the east cost someday. The information you gave me makes me exicted to visit the east coast. I can picture your trip in my head.
I was wondering if you got jetlag. When I returned from Hong Kong it was very hard for me to adjust. For the first few days, my sister and I woke up at noon.
I've never been to the East Coast. I know we have a chance to go to Washington D.C. in May. I think that the tickets are too expensive, so I am not going. You made the East Coast sound like a lot of fun. When you wrote that you were nervous and didn't want to go when you first arrived at the airport, I made a connection. I went to Taiwan before when I was very young. Around 1-and-a-half years old. I never knew I had been to Taiwan that time. I went to Taiwan every year. My first Taiwan airplane trip that I can remember is when I was in first grade. I was really nervous and didn't want to go, just like you!
Great Post Annie!!
Hi Annie, Wow! your Trip must be Fantastic. I never went to the East Coast but if I get to go I will want to go. No I don't know ANY information on it but it sounds like a great place to have a trip!:D
Nice Post !!
Hey Annie,
man, that sounds like fun. I,ve been there a bunch of times 'cause my uncle lives there. Did you know that Hurricane Irene just destroyed a bunch of New York?
Also, did you buy an I <3> NY shirt? If so, they used to be rip-offs.
Washington D.C. sounds like fun!!

Dear Annie,
Your trip to the East Coast sounded very exciting! I had never been to the East Coast, but I would like to go there one day. I already know a little about the East Coast because we had the new England States test.
Sincerely,
Yvonne
Your blog is so cool! I never got to visit the museums you described, but I got to go to the Civil War battle sites. I went to Manassas, Antietam, Harpers Ferry, Fredicksburg, Gettysburg, and Petersburg. The highlights of each battle (These are only my favorites, so don't blame me if I miss anything):
Manassas: At first, numbers won out, but skilled maneuvering won out eventually. 4,900 people died.
Antietam: 38,000 troops, without a single advantage, survived a massive wave of 60,000 of 72,000 troops. 23,000 people died.
Harpers Ferry: Failed positioning led to the fall of this essential town. Casualties unknown, but not very many.
Gettysburg: 70,000 troops at an elevation and numerical disadvantage bravely attacked 90,000 divided troops, with both sides losing almost 30% of their army. Cool part: 270 cannons battled each other with long range shots: 300 people were killed by the bombardment before the attack. The last phase of this battle was a slaughter: by the end of the battle, 51,000 people died.
Fredricksburg: A massive slaughter which shows how positioning effectively knocks out numbers. 18,000 people died.
Petersburg: It took nine months and one slaughter to capture this city. 70,000 people died (not including civilians).
That was the best trip of my life! The East Coast was awesome, and I probably should mention that I actually visited many museums and monuments. It was a nice trip. Great post Annie!
Your comments are awesome, kids! I'm so proud of you. Keep it up :)
He-yo class!
It's so cool to see your comments! The I <3 new york tshirts are actually not really a rip off, unless you think they are very bad quality(they sort of are when I got one last year but i don't know now)but they are so cheap! There are like 6 tshirts for 10$! and crystal, it's so funny that you wrote your name like that :D and I can't believe so many of you went to the east coast!
Hi! :) This is Zarah! :) Most of the new fifth graders know me! I have been to the east coast and it is REALLY FUN! :D I was there in New York and Washington D.C. I really enjoyed it! :) HI MS.REGOSIN! :) Anyways, East Coast was really fun and I hope to go there soon!
Wow!Your trip sounds like it was amazing!I have been to all those places that you went to, except I went there when I was little so I did not enjoy it when I was little. But your trip was really fun and sounded weird in the museum when they said we were made out of chickens and bananas.Overall, I hope you had a great trip and I hope I could go there too someday.
Dear Annie I have been to the East Coast but only Boston because I went there to meet my aunt and uncle from my Moms side and my cousins. I went to boston I think about two times once in the winter, and once in the spring. When I went to Boston I Went to M.I.T. at the second to last day in the night, when I went to M.I.T. it was huge I couldn't really see the top from the car and I felt dizzy looking at it. After I saw the building I went to a thai/chinese type restaurant which tasted good. The last time I went to Boston was last year for the two week christmas break and I went to Boston for a week. I went at the last week of the two week break.
Anyways Nice Post Annie!
I have been to the East Coast once, when I was a toddler. I went to Quincy, Massachusetts with my mom and dad. We were there to visit my grandparents, who lived in a spacious two floor house. My mom told me that I would go up the stairs, and then not be able to come back down. I have not been there since. My grandparents owned a small takeout restaurant called Hong Kong House. My mom, during the summer, used to help out as a cashier or waitress during the summer when she was a teenager. Even though I have gone to the East Coast once, I do not really remember the trip and would like to go again.
Annie-
Your trip sounds great! During this fall break I'll be going to Washington D.C. too. So that means that I won't be in the spring break one with my friends :( I'm also looking forward to going to the monuments and museums to see all the fascinating things you said about. Awesome trip!!
Hi Annie,
Your trip sounded so fun! It's so cool that you helped your brother win the awards for the Scholastic® contest. I have been to Boston and Washington D.C. but I am DYING to go to New York. Your trip sounds so fun and your brother sounds so funny! Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
Great Post:)
;o
I have never been to the East Coast before, but after reading your blog , I want to go there very badly. It seems so cool that you went to so many places.I seems like you have a very funny and talented brother. I can't believe that you went to the capitol biulding and got to climb on the Lincoln Memorial. It is very cool that you got to colour the video game on paper.
AWESOME POST,ANNIE:)
Hi Annie, unfortunately I have never been to the east coast. I don't know much facts but here are some. I heard that some of the most big events happened in some of the places you went in, like in Boston there was the Boston Tea Party, and in New York there was 9-11. Now here are some questions. Did you ever go to the Statue of Liberty? Did you see the ship were they had the Boston Tea Party? How old is your brother( kindda off topic)? How was Harvard University?
Nice post Annie!
Hey Annie!! It sounds like a great trip. After I read it, I really wanted to go there and see how it looks by my own eyes. Your blog was really long. Maybe my next family trip will be going to East Coast too! By the way YOU'RE BLOG WAS AWSOME!!!!!
Hi Annie,
I read your blog and I think that you did a great job.
After reading I wish I could go to the places that you said. In fact, I have been to Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania, but I was an infant at that time and I do not remember that trip. At least I have a chance to see Washington D.C during the April break. I’m not a fan of hockey but I’d love to see the stadium. Did you actually color that game your brother made?
I think after my next trip, I will also write a blog and share it with my friends and family. Thanks for the inspiration!
