Taekwondo- By Shrirang

Taekwondo
Did you know that taekwondo is a self defense art? Taekwondo is a martial art that comes from Korea. Similar to Taekwondo are other martial arts such as Karate and Kung Fu. I am learning Taekwondo since Kindergarten, and I am on my way to test for Brown Belt. This belt is just one level below the Black Belt.

I want to share some self defense kicking tips that I learnt in Taekwondo.  Anyone who learns these simple tips can protect from danger.  If you are walking on a side walk which looks like it hasn’t been walked on, and a person comes up with a gun or knife and tells you to give all the money you have in your pocket, one way is try running away from him. If you can’t run away your only resort is fighting. There are many ways to fight and one of the ways is kicking. Kicking is a skill that we learnt in Taekwondo. You can kick hard on the body of the intruder. There are many places on the body that you kick, to knock the enemy. You can kick hard in the abdomen, chest or the area below the stomach or above the thighs called groin. All these spots on the body get hurt easily. After kicking you can run away.  There are several type of kicks such as side kick, round horse kick, axe kick, snap kick, outside-inside or inside-outside kick. By learning these kicks one can protect when in danger. Kicking is just one form of self defense. We also learnt other forms that I can share some other time. I feel confident by know these simple tricks.

Hey Shrirang, I learn Kung Fu. I know how to protect myself from danger. Do you know the sweeping face kick? Its awesome. This is how you do it. So you first put your feet up. Then, you spin around and kick them in the face. Another kick is called Sweeping Floor Kick. To do it, you need to first crouch down. Then you spin around with your foot 1 inch above the ground. It makes them fall, then you can run off. I know how to handcuff people with my hands. You can either run off or handcuff them and call the police. If you dont have a phone, no worry. You can either tell somebody to call the police or walk to the police station with him handcuff by your hands. You can also use some ropes to tie their handes and feet, just in case. I am really good at defending myself. So learning martial art is a good thing. Or others such as boxing. Oh yeah, great post.

You must be on the brown belt. I have a friend that might try out for martial arts. Do you like martial arts/Kung Fu? If so, I think you should watch the movie Karate Kid. My friend taught me some skills, though it has not helped. Thank you for teaching me some kunfu skills. But there is a problem. Some people use kunfu to hurt people. Wont it hurt to fight someone?

I don't know taekwondo or Kung Fu but, I do know Karate. Karate means "empty handed". I'm a purple belt and I have FIVE more belts until I'm a black belt. YAH!!! My belt order goes like this: white, yellow, gold, orange, green, blue, purple, red, brown, brown, brown, and then final black! Did you know I competed in the karate ❊JUNIOR OLYMPICS❊?? I won FIVE gold medals, THREE bronze and TWO SILVER! I don't think I ever competed without winning a medal. It is really fun!! We learn kicks, punches, stances, fighting and weapons! I could kick to the head and punch fast. My favorite part of karate is competing and doing my kata. A kata is lots of punches and kicks together in a special order.
Nice Post Shrirang!

Taekwondo, (wow..that's hard to spell:)) seems really cool. It seems so hard when I see other people breaking wood with their heads! I used to think tai-chi is ljust like karate. There is this lady who does tai-chi in the park a lot. I always wonder why they move so slow. It ends up, tai-chi is something grown ups do to make their body...more active.

I don't do anything like taekwondo. My dad said I should because that settles down anger and agressiveness. I heard that there are like nine black belts in Kun Fu or Taekwondo. My friend goes to taekwondo and he is on his second belt. You're very lucky to have experience about this taekwondo. When I go to walk every Sunday in the park, i see these adults learning something(like Shrila)and they keep saying stuff like hai ya and ha.

NICE POST SHRIRANG:)<>:)<>

I think I would really want to see someone do taekwondo. It seems kind of hard but it also seems fun to do. I seen in movies that some of the people who do taekwondo can climb on walls and other cool things. I don't really think it is possible but it would be fun to do that. I bet you are really good at taekwondo because you are going to get your Brown Belt. I think Kung Fu is cool too. Tai Chi is kind of slow so I don't really like it. When I go to the park, I always see some people doing Tai Chi of Kung Fu. I think it is really fun doing those kicking and self defense moves.

Nice Post Shrirang!

I used to learn kung fu in my old chinese school. I know how to do the sweeping kick it's pretty easy. I forgot all the combos I learned in the class. I still know basic kung fu.

I don't know taekwondo, karate, or kung fu. I do swimming instead. In compitition level everything is tough. I have to swim 200 yards just for a warm up and if you make the same mistake more than three times you have to do push ups. I get very tired after swimming. I wish I learned taekwondo. By the way nice post shrirang.

I take karate classes. I learned many forms of self-defense, like if someone grabs your shoulders from the front, you can chop their arms, poke them in the eyes, and then hit them in their head. That way, they'll be unconscious while you escape. I am a green belt with one stripe. A stripe shows you your improvement on that belt. When you get a certain number of stripes, you advance to the next belt.
