The People Who Changed Our Life
By Kaasha Minocha
Barack
Obama stood in front of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28th, 2013. He
stood there to honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s amazing speech, “I Have A
Dream,” given on the same date in 1963. Mr.King was inspired by
Mahatma Gandhi who stood for freedom, rights, and
India’s
independence from Great Britain. Martin had the same idea and followed
in Gandhi’s footsteps as he stood up for the rights of
African-American’s in America.
Martin was also inspired by a woman named Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks
was riding home on a bus one night after work in 1955. At that time,
African-Americans in Alabama were forced by law to sit at the back of
the bus because front seats were reserved for “Whites Only.” On this
particular night, Rosa was tired and, when told to get up from her seat,
she refused. Rosa was arrested. Dr. King encouraged African-Americans
to boycott the busses until the unfair law was changed. Boycotting is
when people stop using a business or service as a way to keep it from
making money. The bus boycott worked. African-Americans worked
together to break the bus system.
Later,
African-Americans spent a lot of time, money and effort to go to
Washington D.C to hear Dr. King deliver his speech. Their gathering was
a symbol of their perseverance to gain their freedom. If it wasn’t for
the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King
Jr., Barack Obama would never have had the opportunity to become an
American President. This is why it is so significant that Obama spoke
in the same place as Dr. King fifty years later. Thank you Dr.King!

Nice post Kaasha. It's cool that MLK and Obama gave their speeches on the same day. I didn't know that Rosa Parks lived in Alabama that time.Good vocabulary! It was cool that Ghandi inspired MLK.
Nice blog Kaasha. I agree that M.L.K and Gandhi where very brave peaceful people. I think it's weird that both Gandhi and M.L.K where shot. Anyway, you did a wonderful job.
Wow! I never knew so much about these four marvelous people. But, isn't boycotting against the law?
Wow Kaasha! I never new Ghandi inspired MLK to bring freedom to his country.Great blog.
Wow Kaasha,
You used the hardest words I could think of
You had marvelous vocabulary
Even I feel happy for Dr.King
Great job Kaasha!!!
Wow! Kaasha it was very unfair that black people were forced to sit at the back of the buses and the white got reserved spots. Martin Luther King Jr. and President Obama both gave some great speeches. Mahatma Gandhi, Rosa Parks, Marthin Luther King, and President Obama are some very important people to remember.
Dear Kaasha,
I really enjoy your blog. I believe that usally what matters is the way people treat each other. It makes people feel good about themselves if they treat another person nicely or at least help someone.

Wow Kaasha,
Great Blog! What gave you the idea to write about it? Martin Luther King inspired many people to do what they are doing now.
Dear Kaasha,
Your blog interested me a lot. A few most important thing to treat other people is by respect, and listening to other people when they talk. If you don't listen to other people talk in the future nobody will listen to you. That's why it is important when other people speak.

Hi Kaasha!
Great post! These people really did make a change in our lives..... They are so inspiring.
kaasha-
fantastic job on your blog!!!Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Mahatma Ghandi sure made a big impact in the world.Obama stood up and gave his speech and without Martin Luther King Jr., he wouldn't be president of the USA. You gave us all the right information about these three major leaders. Great job again!!!!
Dear Kashaa,
Great blog! If you think about it, nothing would be the same if Rosa Parks gave up her bus seat, if MLK Jr. never took the courage to stand up, or if Mahatma Gandhi didn't care about how India was treated. Which is why we honor and look up to those people. I simply just loved your blog. Amazing job.
Wow, Kaasha!
Fabulous blog! I never knew that there were so many heroes that were American Indians. I think Dr. King was very brave to stand up to the white. Fascinating blog!
Wow I did not know India gained independence from the British. Nor did I know Martin Luther King was inspired by Gandhi. Thank you for the useful information. Nice job!
Kaasha, Excellent blog! It was very informative. You're totally right that Ghandi and MLK fought peacefully.Great job!
Kaasha, nice blog! I learned that many people stand up for our nation and we should always care about everyone. Also, we have dreams. Nice vocabulary, too!
Great blog Kaasha! You had wonderful vocabulary. Keep up the good work!
Wow Kaasha,
I did not know that there are so many famous people in our lives i did not know that Barak O, bama was that special night. Thanks for telling me so much information.
Fantastic blog, Kaasha. I never thought that Mahatma Gandhi inspired Martin Luther King. It is interesting to know that President Barack Obama gave the speech on the same day of MLK's speech,"I Have A Dream."
Hey Kaasha-
These three figures are significant in World History. Mahatma Gandhi also started a protest in South Africa, it was an inspiration for Nelson Mandela. Recently, I read this quote by Harris Majeke, South Africa’s ambassador to India; “While Nelson Mandela is the father of South Africa, Mahatma Gandhi is our grandfather.” Now U.S.A., India, and South Africa have freedom and democracy but also a common thread called 'Mahatma Gandhi'.
Dear Kaasha, fantastic job! Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mahatma sure changed the world to make it a great place to live. I learned a lot more about what happened. Awesome job on the blog though!
