Did you ever wonder why St. Patrick day is on March 17? If you don’t know, I will tell you why. It is because a priest named Saint Patrick who is the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. He was born in a wealthy British family. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave. Later on he escaped, returned to Britain and became a priest. Since he is one of the most successful priests who taught Catholicism in Ireland, people observe St. Patrick’s day on March 17 after he died on March 17, 461. Why do we wear green on St Patrick Day? We wear green on St. Patrick’s Day because Saint Patrick used the shamrock, the three leaved plant to explain the Holy Trinity to others. The wearing and display of the shamrock design becomes an unique feature of this day. And the color green associates with the shamrock plant. If you don’t wear green on this day, you will get PINCHED by your friend! So now I hope you will wear green on this day which is going to be on this coming Saturday and we will celebrate it for school on Friday too.

No luck for me. I have no green outfits. I don't believe in getting pinched for not wearing green. The next thing you know, you're getting suspended from school for not wearing white. If anyone pinches me, I'm not very nice about it. I recommend not pinching me, but the history of St. Patrick's Day is quite interesting. I always wonder why people draw 4 leaf clovers during March because Saint Patrick used a three leaf clover to explain the Holy Trinity.

Your blog was great! I just learnt a lot more new information about Saint Patrick's Day. I never even knew that it was named after a priest and that it is on the 17th of March because that is the day he died. I never ever knew that he had gotten kidnapped when he was 16 (I don't exactly see how that can happen if he is rich, his family must have some security, and he must know a little bit of karate or maybe how to punch). Anyway, nice blog you posted there.

My worst favorite holiday is St. Patrick day in my opinion because people kept pinching me last year even though I was wearing green. I better remember to wear green. In first grade we had to make leprechaun traps but I went to India. How are leprechauns related to St. Patrick day?Great Post!!!!!!!
Why can't they call St. Patricks day green clover day or something? Why is it calles St. Patricks day? I hope you wear green on that day because someone might try to pinch you but get in trouble.

Almost every St. Patrick's Day I wear green. I would never want to get pinched on St. Pactrick's Day by my friends because I didn't wear green.

Great post Karisa. I learned a lot about St. Patrick's Day. I think it is not nice to pinch someone just because they aren't wearing green. That reminds me in third grade when it was St. Patrick's Day and I wasn't wearing green, only my light up shoes were so I had to keep on jumping so I won't get pinched! Not the best day of my life. Anyways, I have heard St. Patrick also sent all the snakes away. Today there are no snakes in Ireland. Guess it worked. Nice job Patrick.

Thanks for reminding me to wear green tomorrow, or I'll get pinched (even though I'm not so sure I have green clothing). All I know about St. Patrick's Day is that it's about this guy and he was in Ireland, and that there are leprechauns, gold, and green stuff. I don't get why there are leprechauns, though. There's no point. Whoever created this Leprechaun thing with Santa Claus and the Easter bunny has something stuck in their brain. Why is St. Patrick's Day luck anyways? I know that people with this kind of problems see things that look like little people and tell to others. Soon, they just make up stuff that is totally not related to Saint Patrick.

Wah, wah, wah) I still do no get why St. Patrick's day is named after St. Patrick(it should have been called clover day or green day or gree clover day or Irish day) Anyhoo, I should get going. I don't understand why you will get pinched by others if you don't wear green for St. Patrick's Day because if you don't wear this huge New Year's party hat on January 1st you don't get pinched. However, I will try to wear green to avoid to avoid getting pinched.

I don't know much about St. Patrick's Day, but once when I was wearing green I got pinched at school. St. Patrick's Day isn't one of my most favorite holidays, but it's still a nice holiday.

I didn't know much about St Patrick's Day until now! I always wondered why people especially like clovers on St Patrick's Day. Green is my favorite color, so I'm in luck! My b'day is also in March.
I don't know why you get pinched, too. And even if you pinch someone, you can do it lightly (or you can tell your friend to paint yourself green like barf). I really don't know why we don't skip school too on St Patrick Day. On Martian Luther King Jr day we get to skip school. I DON'T WANT TO GET PINCHED!!! If you DARE I will throw a TEMPER on you (so get ready to catch it). I don't have that much green cloth. Why can't it be blue.
