Winter Vacation
By Aishwarya
This winter was very cold, wet, and rainy. It made me feel cozy in my home with my family and friends. I had couple of play dates with my cousin and few parties and get-togethers with my friends. Christmas day was filled with gifts and surprises. We also took some family pictures.
I had a long relaxing time and a good deal of entertainment. I enjoyed food at restaurants, watched lots of movies, and read a ton of books.

We went to California Academy of Sciences. There was a film of the northern lights in a blow up igloo. The scientific name for the northern lights is aurora borealis. They are often greenish-blue and sometimes red. It is caused by collision of charged particles directed by Earth's magnetic field. These sights are in the Polar Regions. In the planetarium, I watched a movie called LIFE. In the aquarium, I saw fish, manta rays, and jellyfish.
How did you spend Winter Vacation?

Heyy Aishwarya! First of all, my birthday came up! It was so much fun! I am officially 11 now! <3 I am so happy:) Second, was my moms birthday and anniversary! It was so much fun! Third, we went to L.A. and Santa Barbara. In L.A., we had to do this visa thing. We went inside a building called Pakistan Embassy and they give us our visa and went! We also went to UC LA and we saw a plushy lady!!!! :P :D Fourth, at Santa Barbara, we stayed a night there at a wonderful hotel called Homewood Suites. Keyword: SUITES! Yes, it was something like a suite! We stayed at the same hotel in New York but this one was much more bigger! I think there was like this wind storm when we went there. It was really cold! The next day, we went to Solvang. Guess what! All the shops were closed. Can you believe it!!!! We went there at around 6:00 and only once shop was open! A cupcake plus cookie shop. I wanted to get something but we needed to reach our home fast! We drove to L.A. and Santa Barbara! It was really fun! I hope we can do this again sometime!
Nice post Aishwarya!
P.S. Merry late Christmas!
I went to Florida for a week. In Florida, I went to Miami, Keywest Islands, and Orlando. In Miami, I went to the beach. In Keywest, I did parasailing, jet ski, and snorkeling. In Orlando, I went to Disney World, Epcot Center, and Kenndey Space Center. I enjoyed my trip to Florida!
I spent my Winter vacation at other people's houses. I went to my friend's house for a sleepover and we ended up having two sleepovers. On January 1st, I went to my other friend's house to have a New Year Party. It was really fun and I played this board game called Ticket To Ride over and over again. It is like the most addicting board game on Earth! I played it for three hours straight. For the rest of the days, I didn't really do anything.
I went to Reno and went skiing it was fun but really cold. I also just relaxed and had fun. The best part I liked about the winter break was I got to sleep in usally I wake up all stressed on school days but on breaks you can wake up anytime you want. On Christmas I looked under our Christmas tree and there was presents.
I'm glad you had a great vacation Aishwarya. My vacation was okay. On Saturday, I went to Mandar's birthday party at a bowling place. It was really fun. On Sunday, I went with my family to my sister's harp teacher's Christmas party. The food there was very good and I played with my sister's harp teacher's dog to amuse myself. There was a ball and me and my brother threw it back and forth to each other while the dog kept running around to get it. Sometimes, my brother would fake a throw and the dog would scamper a few feet before realizing the ball wasn't there. After that, I didn't do much for the rest of the week. On Christmas, I got two great presents from my mom. For the rest of the break, I pretty much only read, watched T.V., played computer games, and did homework.
Aiswarya , Looks like you had a nice relaxing and enjoyable break.I enjoyed my break too
I went to Los Angeles and San Diego. In Los Angeles , I went to Universal Studios and went on all the rides and shows. My favorites were the Jurassic Park ride, the Studio Tour(especially when the King Kong 360 part came),the Simpson's ride, and the Animal Actors show.On the Jurassic Park ride you meet "live" dinosaurs and drop down a 84 foot water fall with a Tyrannosaurus Rex roaring just before you drop. In the Studio Tour a tram takes you around the screens used to shoot movies from Universal. In the Simpson's ride you are in a simulator that is moving and the screen shows a dangerous roller coaster that the Simpson s are riding. In 'Animal Actors ' show some of the animals used in their films put on a show. it was really very funny.
I also went to San Deigo and saw the Wild Animal Park.I got to see Cheetahs,Lions, Black and White Rhinos, Hyenas, and other Animals.
Next we went to La Brea Tar Pits.I got to learn about the prehistoric animals like American Lions ,Smilodon and Columbian Mammoths.I learned that Imperial and Columbian Mammoths were the same species.
I had a GREAT Winter Break!
Hi guys!!! In this winter break I went skiing only once. I went up the mountain on December 25, 2010. On the way up the mountain it was totally HORRIBLE mainly because of all the wind blowing the rain and snow onto our car. Also there was an accident on the skiing resort I went to. One of the ski lifts actually stalled in the wind and the snow. The people up there were totally freaked out. I actually heard one of the people stuck on the lift moan that they were going to die. About 30 minute later they found out the cause of the stall it was: . . . . One of the wheels turning the lift cable got too much snow stuck to it and it froze at the point where the bolts held it to the pole. On the day we came back down it was also storming really bad so it basically took us ALL day to get home. We also had a party on New Years Eve. We had a really big feast on Eve and mourning of the New Years. We celebrated our New Years by firing party popers, blowing horns and screaming (which I didn't think our neighbors really enjoyed.) Then we all slept till 11:00. After eating a buffet brunch with some of my sisters friends. We went aroud to every one of my friends house and said " HAPPY NEW YEARS. Then we had this thing called Free Time, it is when we get to do ANYTHING we want to do for FOUR HOURS STRIAGHT. As you can see I had a really GREAT winter break.
By the way ISANE BLOG Aishwarya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't do too much over the winter break, but here are a few things that I did over the winter break. First of all, I went to the exploratorium in San Francisco. It was really fun visiting all those different exhibits, but my most favorite exhibits were the light and sound exhibits. Later on towards the end of the vacation, I moved to a new house on the same day as my sister's birthday. My family doesn't celebrate Christmas so the 25th was just another ordinary day. I didn't celebrate new years either because I accidentally slept through it.
Nice post!
I spent my winter vacation at Boreal. It is really cold there. My favorite hill (I think) is called the quad. It has bumps, mini-pipes, and slants. I stayed at Springhill Hotel. I like it there because their food is great. I stayed all the way 'till Christmas!!!
What did I do over the winter break??? Mmmmm..... ❊ ❊
Well, on the first week of winter break I went to Disneyland with my friend. The good news was that when it rained, there were fewer people and the lines were very short. The bad news was that when the sun came out on Thursday.... the lines were extremely long. My favorite ride was the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and Thunder Mountain :(! I had no idea that the Pirates ride dropped down when it was dark. I was screaming really loudly and holding on to the rail and my friends hand.
The other bad news is that I didn't get to go on my third favorite ride in Toontown because it was closed because of the rain. ✦
The second week Dexter, my friend and I were playing at Golf camp. I wasn't so bad for a beginner. In 9 holes my total was 52. My friends score was 39 or 42. She has played for a year. ✿
The last week, we had a New years eve party. This time I managed to stay up until 2:30 pm!
P.s. GREAT POST AISHWARYA! :)
I went to Las Vegas during Christmas. We went with a couple of our friends. It was SUPER fun!!! On one day, we went to dinner in this really tasty Italian resteraunt. We were all kind of full after we ate there, but someone got the idea of eating desert at the Eiffel Tower resteraunt! It is not the real Eiffel Tower, but it really tall. The real Eiffel Tower is three times its length!!! We all decided to eat there because it has a great view and it is really fancy. Even though it was a fancy resteraunt, we didn't expect REALLY fancy food, but we were definitely wrong! The deserts were amazing! I ordered this white chocolate banana thing. It looked fascinating!!! First, there was a layer of some bananas, and on top of that, a disk of white chocolate. There were three of those layers. On the very top, there was this small upside down "cup" like thing, which was actually all burned sugar. The waitress said that some people put a ring in that little "cup" and propose! Some one else ordered a chocolate souffle. It looked great. There was this large chocolate bowl kind of thing (bread-like) and when the lady gave it, she had a small cup of chocolate syrup. She quickly poked a hole on the top and poured the chocolate in, in a very professional way. Some one else ordered a apple crumble. There was this cool apple tart in the middles, and a big and thin, apple disk was stuck in the middles of it! So overall, the deserts were amazing! After we were all done, everyone took a taxi to the hotel because they were all tired. My dad took me and my brother to the very top of the Eiffel Tower and we saw the view. It was really breath-taking!!! There were so many lights and everything! We even saw a water show from the top! It was really cool! There were also a lot of really cool resteraunts in Las Vegas. I also had a New Years party. If you want to know about that, then read my comment to the other blog! =P
I did nothing special over the break. I only went to my friends house for playdates but that was it. Christmas was fun. That whole week was fun with lots of parties!!
I slept at around 12 that week. For Christmas Eve, I went to someone's house for a party and came back at 12. (I didn't see Santa) The same day, Christmas (If I slept at 12, it is the next day)
We went to someonelse's house and again came back at 12. That same day, December 26th was my mom and dad'd anniversary so there was a party. We slept at 12. On New Years Eve, we had a party and slept at 12. On Jan. 1st, it was my friend's birthday. We came back at 10:30!!! Early!! Finally. The rest of the days were playdates. My break was pretty fun!!!
Great Post Aishwarya!!!
I had a Christmas party at my grandma's house. 'twas fun. I was able to get 7 presents but it was all books and clothes. Then I had my birthday. I turned eleven on 1/4/11. My parents gave me a book and a B&N gift card.
I went to Los Angeles. It was pretty fun. First, we went to Hearst Castle. We weren't at Los Angeles yet. Before I went into Hearst Castle, my family and I watched how Hearst Castle was made. It was interesting to watch. Then, we went up the mountains until I saw Hearst Castle on the tippy-top of the hill. The outside of the castle was pretty, but the inside was kind of dark inside. William Randoff Hearst (his full name) made it dark because in the morning, he could see the sunshine rise all over the castle. There was a indoor and outdoor pool and a tennis court! The place was so big that you could even ride a horse. After we went to Hearst Castle, my family and I went to a place where you could feed ostriches and emus!!! It was so cool! Next, we went to Solvang where a dutch town was. My family and I just walked around and took some pictures. I bought a souvenir. It was a glass rabbit statue. So that was basically what I did for winter break.
Nice Post Aishwarya!!!
I spent my one week of Christmas vaction at boston on the 25 of December on Christmas in Boston with my cousins. I had a great time in Boston and to tell you what in the plane I was in JetBlue airlines and then at one house there was two families there with 13 people my dad went on Monaday when I went on Thursday or Friday. My other cousins from London,England went on the next day. Iplayed lots of ping pong at Boston after they made the ping pong table and I really became a pro in 2,3 days.I also met my cousins for the first time (in my memory) and met my other Boston cousouns for the third or fourth time I think? All in all I had great fun and the week before that I just hanged around like that not knoning that I would be a pro!!!!!!!!!!
During the break, I just stayed at home normally playing DS, computer, Wii, or watching TV. On Christmas Eve, I went out with my whole family to eat. On Christmas, my mom let us do whatever we wanted to do. I guess it's not good for you, but hey who can pull themselves away away from a deal that good? On December 28, I went to my piano teacher's house. We played games that included building a pyramid out of plastic cups, pulling tissues out of a tissue box(yes it made a HUGE mess)and putting Vaseline on your nose( in case you want me to rate how gross it was 1 as least gross, 10 most gross, it would TOTALLY be a 10) We split into two teams. I was against my sister and besides my sister, I knew Ruby and Patrick the brothers and sisters. On my team there was nobody I knew. My days were pretty nice. but I am excited that school is starting again.
I saw houses lighted up with Christmas ornaments as well as lights. My family and I went to Christmas in the park (Vasonna Park). I watched the movie Chronicles of Narnia in AMC theaters with my dad and watched Toy Story 2 and 3 at my home. I decorated my Christmas tree, and had a play date with one of my best friends Raveena. I was suppose to go skiing but it rained hard and there were so many snowstorms there that we couldn’t go.
NICE POST AISHWARYA!!!!!!
I had an AWESOME winter break because I went to COSTA RICA!!!!!! I had a lot of fun there. I went to three places in Costa Rica. The first place is called Arenal. We stayed there for three nights. When we got there, we checked in and went right away to the hot springs. The next day we went on a boat ride called the Cano Negro. We saw a lot of birds and wildlife. Some birds we saw were Aningas, Egrets, Roseta Spoonbill, and Herons. Aningas are called the Snake Birds because they have along neck and it kind of looks like a snake. We saw camens which are look like small crocodiles. We went to the hot springs after we got back. Our hotel had 23 hot springs but we only went in around ten of them. We stayed at Baldi Hot Springs in Arenal. The next day we went on a hike with a tour guide. We saw a lot of beautiful humming birds and two snakes. We saw three types of monkeys; howler monkeys, white-face cappuccino monkeys, and the last one was a spider monkey. The next day we left Arenal and went to a place called Monteverde. That is the name of a cloud forest. We went zip lining and the last course was a kilometer long. We also went on a hike and after the hike we went to a humming bird place where we saw a bunch of hummingbirds that were not in cages or anything like that. We also went on a night hike and we saw a bunch of sleeping birds and also two frogs. The last place we went was a place called Manuel Antonio. We went to the beach on both the days we were there/. Wow, that is the longest blog I have ever written!
For my winter vacation I went to Annie's birthday party and went to a ceremony plus I got ballons. The drummers were just drumming when the boy scouts came holding a chinese flag and another group holding a american flag. And we got mini flag but the worst part was it was raining so we went inside and we listen to a lot of people who I don't understand. We got cake and there were like 4 different cake but I got vanilla and last they were drawing prize but we didn't win but got a picture and calender
I spent my winter vacation with my cousin at home. We played a lot of wii and went to a lot of people's houses and also celerbrated Christmas at 12:01 to 12:01 the next day. It was also my brother's birthday at the 28th! We had soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomuch fun at that time.
Anyway, great post Aishwarya!
I went to Reno to ski. It was my first time to ski at black! It was very fun. My friend came with us but she got scared and slid all the way down and lost her skis. She also lost her poles but good she found them. It was also my 10th b-day! Hooray! I had a sleepover after. We played WII and more fun things. Nice Post Aishwarya!
I went to the most wonderful place, Reno! We lived at a hotel called Grand Sierra that has a bowling center, a arcade, a laser quest, a swimming pool, a movie theater, Round Table Pizza, stores, a golf center, and it contains Sweat rooms! Sweats are these rooms that have a TV in the bathroom, and it is much decorative than regular rooms. And plus, for this hotel, you can get 2 nights FREE! Anyways, we went skiing too. It was fun. We went on black diamond. My it was fun! My friend was there while my cousin was snowboarding. To go to black, you need to go on lake view lift. There, you can see a beautiful view of a lake! My friends was scared so she just bent her knees. But suddenly, she flipped backwards and slid all the way down.
IMPORTANT NEWS!
Also, I went on black on myself when I got very angry at my friends for letting me wait for 2 hours to come down black. On the steep part, I bent down to purposely fall (it wouldn't hurt) so I could stop myself. But then I realized I was sliding like about 40 miles per hour! Help! Then I tripped and my skis fell. I flew 6 feet up the air and fell hard on the snow. I was full of pain with no one around me to help. TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, ASK ANNIE FOR MORE DETAILS!!!!
Over the winter break, I went to San Francisco two times. The first time I went to San Francisco, I went to the Exploratorium. The thing I enjoyed most about that visit was pendulum drawing exhibit. They have a piece of paper on a flat board. The flat board is suspended on four hanging ropes to create a pendulum. Over the board, there is a rod holding a marker so that it lightly touches the board. When I moved the board, the board kept moving even after I stopped touching it. I did the same procedure 4 times to make my pendulum drawing. The next day I went to San Francisco again. I went to Union Square. There were many people skating, shopping, taking pictures, or just hanging around. I saw the Macy Christmas tree. It was so tall that I could not see the top. After that, we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. It was on the eighth floor of Macy. This floor is even taller that the Christmas tree! I looked down and saw many skaters in the skating rink. After dinner we went home. All in all, that was what I did over the winter break.
Over the winter break, I read the series "Foxtrot". It's mainly about this family with three kids (Jason, the youngest, Paige, the girl who "nearly" failed biology class, and Peter, the oldest boy who takes about 203 hours to finish Thanksgiving dinner-he eats a lot) and their parents( Andy-she's a female-and Roger-he's too "energetic"). One reason why I like these books is because they are very funny. For example, in one part of the book, Jason is aiming ten snowballs at a snowman but instead of hitting the snowman, he turns around and hits Paige, who was standing behind him. After Jason noticed Paige getting mad at him, he said "What? I can't help it if my aim is really bad." Another time, when Peter heard Andy call "Piz-", he ran faster than the speed of sound to the dinner table, just in time to hear his mom say "-za!" Also for my winter break, I went skiing at Bear Valley. I got really good at it. The levels for skiing are: green-easy blue-intermediate black diamond-advanced and double black diamond-Expert only. Once I skied down a blue hill. There was a big deep mound of snow. I had two choices: 1) go around it 2) go through it. I chose to go through it because going around it would take too much time and effort. Nice post Aishwarya!
I spend my winter vacation by going
to Reno with my friend, Samuel(he is not Samuel Li). We were beybattling. We both like beyblade.
Samuel, Cody, and I also went skiing. It was very boring!!!
